What a bathroom renovation costs in Dubai
A bathroom looks like a tiling job and is priced as a plumbing and waterproofing job with tiles on top.

The visible money in a bathroom goes on tiles, sanitaryware and glass. The money that decides whether the room is a success goes on what happens before the first tile: the falls in the floor, the waterproofing and its testing, and the pipework buried in the wall. A quote that lumps all of that into one line removes the only part you can usefully question.
Cost guides on this site explain what moves a price up or down and which parts of a quote to compare line by line. They never publish a figure we cannot stand behind.
Bathrooms are also small enough that a change of mind is expensive. Moving a shower across the room or swapping a bath for a walk-in enclosure is not a tap change — it is drainage, waterproofing and screed, all of which have to be decided before anything is fixed.
What matters most on this page
Waterproofing and testing
Wet area membrane under tiles and the flood test that proves it. Skipping it is the cheapest line in the quote and the most costly decision on the job.
Drainage and falls
Floor falls, gully position and waste routes. Keeping the fittings near the existing stack is the single biggest saving available.
Tiling and finishes
Tile size, format and layout, plus the stone or solid surface for the vanity top and any niche or shelf detail.
Where bathroom money actually goes
Keeping the layout versus changing it
A same-position replacement reuses the drainage, the falls and often the pipe routes. A layout change redoes all three, and that is what pushes a bathroom into a different bracket.
Wet room or enclosure
A walk-in wet area needs a continuous membrane and a floor that falls correctly across a larger area. A tray and screen is a smaller, more forgiving scope.
Vanity and joinery
A made-to-measure vanity in a moisture-heavy room has to be specified for the environment. Off-the-shelf units cost less but fit less well.
Before you compare bathroom quotes
Look for the waterproofing line
If it is not there as its own item, ask how the wet area is being protected and how it will be tested.
Confirm the drainage scope
Any change to the floor waste, gully or pipe route should be priced rather than discovered after strip-out.

Where a bathroom sits above another room, access for the new pipework is part of the cost.
Questions we are often asked
Why do two bathroom quotes differ so much?
Usually because of the drainage and waterproofing. One quote replaces the fittings in place; the other moves them and rebuilds the floor.
Can a bathtub be swapped for a walk-in shower?
Yes, and it is a popular change, but the floor falls, waste position and waterproofing all change with it. It is not a straight swap.
Do large-format tiles cost more to lay?
They usually do. Bigger tiles need flatter substrates, more careful handling and a tighter layout plan, and they produce more cutting waste.
