Renovating a master bedroom
A bedroom is for sleep first. Light, noise, temperature and storage decide whether it works, more than the bed or the paint.

The most useful bedroom upgrades are practical. Reading lights and sockets at each side of the bed, with switches for the main light within reach. Blackout curtains or blinds, because Dubai mornings arrive bright and early. Cooling that is quiet and does not blow directly onto the bed. Storage built in so surfaces stay clear.
Room guides follow one space from how it should work when finished back to the hidden work that makes that possible.
In villas the master bedroom usually comes with an en-suite and sometimes a dressing area, and the three are planned together: the bathroom door position, the route to the wardrobe and where light from the bathroom falls at night all affect how restful the bedroom is.
What matters most on this page
Bedside controls
Sockets, USB points and switches for main and reading lights at each side.
Darkness on demand
Curtain or blind tracks recessed into the ceiling, with blackout lining.
Quiet, indirect cooling
AC grilles positioned so air does not fall directly on the bed.
Elements of a bedroom renovation
Headboard wall
Panelling or a padded headboard with integrated reading lights and switches.
Wardrobes
Built-in wardrobes or a dressing area, planned around the door and window.
Flooring
Engineered wood, carpet or tiles with rugs, chosen for comfort and sound.
Before the bedroom is planned
Fix the bed position
It decides where switches, sockets and reading lights go.
Check the AC grilles
If air blows onto the bed, the grille or diffuser may need moving.
Decide curtain or blind
Recessed tracks are fitted into the ceiling before it is finished.
Questions we are often asked
Can the AC be made quieter?
Often, by servicing, adjusting the fan speed, or changing grilles. Sometimes the duct layout is the cause.
Are recessed curtain tracks worth it?
They give a clean look and full-width blackout. They need to be planned before the ceiling is finished.
Should the en-suite be renovated at the same time?
It is usually more efficient and less disruptive, especially if the door or layout between them changes.
