Renovating for a growing family
A growing family needs more bedrooms, more storage and more places to study. Renovation can often find them inside the house.

Families often outgrow homes in stages: another child, children who need separate rooms, teenagers who need study space. Moving is one answer; reorganising the existing space is another. Spare rooms, large bedrooms, maid’s rooms and underused living areas can often be converted or divided.
Decision guides set out how to judge a quote, a programme or a contractor fairly, so the comparison is made on like-for-like information.
Storage is usually the hidden problem. More people means more belongings, and without built-in storage, rooms fill up. Planning storage alongside new rooms keeps the home usable.

Adding a bathroom
Where drainage allows, an extra bathroom eases morning routines.

A second basin, a separate toilet compartment or better storage often eases the morning rush without adding a whole bathroom.

Questions we are often asked
Can one bedroom become two?
Sometimes, if each part can have a window, cooling and access.
Is adding a bathroom possible?
It depends on drainage and space.
Should we renovate or move?
That depends on whether the home can meet your needs; see our renovate-or-move guide.
How do we keep the house usable during works?
Phase the work so bedrooms are finished one at a time and the family always has somewhere to sleep and wash.
